Well, despite CCP's claims and whatever we may be trying to fool ourselves with, EVE is all about the aquisition of that next cool ship and/or uber-leet module. If there's a real-life equivlant, I'd say it'd be souping you car and dreaming about a new one.
Chicks that are into such things are, quite frankly, very few and far between.
The simple fact is that female gamers outnumber male gamers, so EVE's just not attracting female gamers. It's not that they don't exist in sufficient numbers.
